a. Flexion- flex arm, leg bent back
b. Extension- arm straight, leg straight
c. Abduction-arm/leg away from side
d. Adduction- arm/leg toward center of body
e. Circumduction- circular motion
f. Opposition- touch thumbs to other fingers on same hand
2. RN interventions to improve respiratory function
a. Turn, Cough and Deep breath every 2 hours
b. Incentive spirometer every 2 hours while awake
c. Use chest physiotherapy
d. Encourage fluid intake of at least 2000 mL per day unless contraindicated
